the Craft Cubby
The Craft Cubby is our own take on the Little Free Library! Located at Second Shift in Logan Square, we have a craft supply stash that is “take what you need, and leave what you don’t”. If you’re like us and hoard so many hobby supplies that you don’t plan on using, donate it to another crafter in need. Want to try a new hobby but can’t afford all of the new supplies? Come browse the free supply stash!
Rules and Terms
- All sharp object donations (sewing needles, darning needles, scissors, x-acto knives, etc) must be brand new in the package - no exceptions. This is a safety thing.
- Donations must be gently used or new; no broken items. See “Making a Donation” for more information.
- Take only the supplies you need & be cool. We want this to be accessible for everyone in our community. This is based on the honor system here - if you don’t need it, please leave it for someone else that does. 🙂
- Access is limited to specific days and hours (unless you’re a Second Shift member!) For more info, see “Browse the Craft Cubby”
- We have the right to add or edit these terms any time.
When you walk in to the Second Shift building, go down the hall, up the stairs, into the door on the right. The Craft Cubby will be immediately to your left.
If you need help, talk to Mary or Laura!

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the parking situation like?
It is street parking only. You can also park in the residential areas to the West of Second Shift. Do NOT park in the lot next to Second Shift, as you will be towed.
Can I really take anything? Even for a friend?
Of course! Please just only take what you or your friend need, and please be conscious of other craft club members who use the cubby. We want everyone to have the opportunity to take something they need.
How can I support the Craft Cubby?
Donate to our Ko-fi, buy something from our Amazon wishlist, or bring in any supplies that you don’t need: new or used! Your support makes it possible for us to provide so many more free supplies to our community, so thank you SO much.
How can I see what’s in the cubby before making my way out to Second Shift?
Join us on Geneva and check out the Craft Cubby channel to see the latest updates on our inventory before each pick-up day.
I need an accessibility accommodation - is this possible?
Of course! Please email us at craftcubby@chicagocraft.club and we will definitely work something out, so you can browse and/or donate.
